Junk = Treasure

Have you ever heard the saying, "What's one person's junk is another person's treasure?"

 Well that is what I, actually my dad, found on Craig's list.  I have been wanting a specific kind of table for a very long time.  The table that Jes and I were using in our kitchen was from Wal-Mart that was probably $100 that I bought before we were married and living on my own in Hutchinson (8 years ago!).  So I found this table that I wanted at Pottery Barn which was WAY out of my league for price so I found a different table on the Internet that I thought my Dad could make for me.

So I kept reminding him about this 'winter project' that was coming up for him to spend some time at and he kept looking in Craig's list finding me other options.  I get the feeling he really didn't want to make me a table...ha!  Who could blame him.  Well anyway, on with my story.

So right before Christmas he calls me up and tells me to go get my computer and pull this table and chairs (see below) up to see if I liked it.  At first I thought...oh boy here we go again.  However, much to my surprise I really liked it.  So went decided to go look at it.

I LOVED IT.

End of story.  I brought it home + a matching buffet - ha!  All for the steal of $175 and it's pure oak wood.

Nice work Dad.

The table also expanded in a very unique and easy way so it can seat 8 people comfortably.

Here is what the chairs looked like when we got them....

Here is what they looked like when I recovered them.

This is my new and improved table and chairs!

and the matching buffet.
