Well my oldest son has finally hit the age requirement to go along on the "Boys Nights" down on the river fishing for catfish. It's like going to an amusement park and you finally are tall enough to go on the big rides! He was so excited that Daddy let him come along. The crew generally consists of my hubby, his brother, dad, cousins, uncles and now my dad has started to join the fun. It is one of those peaceful evening events that reminds you of your roots and where you come from (that is if you are from around here).
On a side note - I remember when Jes took me along for the first time. I was fishing away and I was watching one of the guys mutilating flaying (how do you spell that word?) the fish. I watched patiently but after awhile I couldn't help myself. So I went and took the knife and started to do this procedure properly by not wasting very much meat. I think I had about 20 eyes on me as well jaws that had to be lifted back to their normal resting place on ones face as they were shocked and awed that a "girl" was doing such a task.....and doing it better then they were. That's right boys, my daddy taught me right!!
Well anyways back to my son's first fishing trip on the river...he had a blast and had MANY, MANY stories to tell me when he got home. A special night for this young man. A special night indeed. If Daddy wasn't his hero before, he sure is now!
