Eye Strengthening

As I have mentioned in the past Jesse recently started wearing glasses.  He wore them for 6 weeks and then we had to go back and evaluate to see if his "bad eye" had corrected itself and actually started doing some of the work rather than his brain telling him only to use his dominate eye (good eye).  Well it turns out that his vision in his "bad eye" was improving however it still has a ways to go.  So onward we go and now we have started patching his right eye so that his left eye (aka bad eye) has to start working harder to improve his vision in that eye.  We patch for 4 hours a day.  At first this was not a small task.  It was hard for Jesse to see hense making him not want to do it.  However after a couple of times he has actually turned his attitude around and asks for his patch first thing in the morning.  He's been quite the trooper with this new venture in his life.  I think his personally has actually even changed a little since he has gotten glasses.  It's almost as if he understands me better and his mood is calmer.  I talked to his doctor about that and she stated that she often hears that about children and credited it to children just not being able to see therefore not always enjoying activities that parents or teachers ask them to do.  I think there is a lot of truth to that.  Jesse never really like coloring prior to glasses, now he enjoys it.  I am so glad we caught this prior to him going into kindergarten this fall.  I feel like he will be better prepared for what is to come.

Snuggling brothers, so sweet at times.  And then there are the other times...we won't go there today.
