Glasses

Our sweet Jesse got glasses last week.  It has been quite the event adjusting to these.  I never realized how many grown up emotions this little guy has until now such as embarassment and self-conciousness.  When he first came to see me at work with his glasses on he came in and immediatly hid his head in my waist and wanted to cry.  So I took him outside and we had our own little private conversation about how him and me...we're the same.  He says we're on the same team cuz we both have glasses.  So this mommy promised to wear her glasses everyday until he gets comfortable with his.  I have worn my glasses everyday so far.  Today was the first day I wore my contacts and when I picked Jesse up from daycare that was the first thing he said to me, "Mommy where are your glasses?  How can you eat without them?"  Ha, that last part kinda cracked me up.

The other night we went to a graduation party for our cousin.  I showed the boys her picture prior to going.  Jesse at first was excited.  He thought she was "pretty" (his words to be exact).  However once he woke up from his nap and the time came closer to leaving he started to cry and said he didn't want to go.  When I inquired as to why he said, "because I have to wear these" and he pointed to his glasses.  Well as the story goes on we did make it to the grad party and Jesse kept pointing Melissa out.  "She's over there Mom.  In the orange"  So I finally asked him if he wanted to talk to her...he said yes.  So before we went up to talk to her I knew in my head that if I could give Melissa the heads up to compliment his glasses his hesitancy on these glasses may be overcome and he might possibly get his self confidence back.  When I explained the situation to her in private she was up for it.  So Jesse and I went up to Melissa to say hi and she immediately told him his glasses looked cool.  Let me tell you my boy was all smiles!  He whispered to me, "Mom she likes them!"  Melts my heart.  She has no idea how much of an impact she had on my little boy.  Thank you Melissa!

So here he is....my little Jesse.  I think he is adorable.
